There are so many fun things to do with your 3-D Shapes unit. In this post are some of my favorite activities, including a stop motion video.
First of all, I love this pack because it includes Silly Hats, sorts, shape-building activities, and a 3-D SNACK! See for yourself. . .
I think that building the shapes is not only the most fun for the kids, but it really helps them to understand the shape and see it in the world around. It’s also a great time to introduce new vocabulary words like sides, faces, and vertices.
This activity is even better to do during an observation because it has that self-assessment piece, which I’m so bad at remembering.
For sphere and cone, we use Model Magic. Model Magic is my FAVORITE medium for building words, shapes, figures, and more. You’ll see it in almost all of my stop motion videos.
It’s. The. Best.

And we end our unit with a snack. This pack has an editable note included, so that you can choose what you are asking your parents to bring in.
And with so much of our learning, arts integration is KEY! I do a lot of stop motion with my kiddos and taught my student teacher how to do the same. She created this adorable 3-D Shapes video with my kids and I could not be more in love!
